What is LODE?

Lode is a community platform that connects people who need to outsource clothes washing and/or ironing, with people who are looking to earn money by doing it for them.

Lode is an on-demand service which means users are matched through the app with the closest Handler that is available at that time.

Users select washing, ironing or both, they enter their quantities and the closest matched Handler will be at the pick up location within minutes of request. Users can even track the Handler’s estimated time of arrival.

Users don’t have to be present when you pick up or drop off their laundry.

Who is a LODE worker (Handler)?

A Lode Handler is a person who can launder for others within the Lode community.

Lode allows you to work according to your lifestyle. You could be a stay at home parent, a retiree, in between jobs, not working, looking for an evening earner, or a student. Take on work whenever you want, and as much as you can.

Once you become a Handler you create an account and select which service you’d like to do and in what volume. Whenever you nominate yourself as being ‘available’ to work within the app, laundry tasks will be assigned to you automatically.

How much can I earn?

How does the washing service work?

We’ve made Lode un-complicated and convenient.

At this stage the service focuses on standard (or normal) washing cycles only. Users will know not to include items that need other washing cycles like ‘delicate’ or ‘hand wash’.

Washing is done only in 5kg loads. Whatever the user puts in their load will be washed together. It could be sheets and shirts, or towels with tops – there’s no restriction as to what constitutes a load.

Users can place their first load in a medium (65cm x 51cm – 27Litre) plastic kitchen bin bag which is a good example of 5kgs worth, making sure it can be tied at the top.

The clean laundry will be returned in a reusable 5kg Lode laundry bag within 24 hours* folded neatly and smelling fresh.

What do I need to become a Handler?

You must be at least 18 years old to be a Handler. You must own or have access to a vehicle in order to pick up and drop off laundry. If you are a washing Handler you must have a washing machine that can wash a minimum load of 5kgs. If you are an ironing Handler you must have a domestic iron and an ironing board.
